Committee of Management
"Thornbury is a wonderful kinder and a delightful community to be a part of. It's been a pleasure working with so many talented and dedicated volunteer parents on the Committee."
Jonathan Rivett, Kinder President 2019
Thornbury Kindergarten is managed by a parent-run, incorporated Committee of Management. This committee functions as the licensed provider and employer at the kindergarten.
The Committee consists of parents or guardians of children attending the centre (or those on the waiting list). These parents volunteer their time to ensure that the kindergarten remains operational and delivers a high-quality service to the community.
The Committee covers areas such as fees, enrolments, policies, OH&S, our Bush Kinder and Out & About programs, staff matters, fundraising, our website, some of our communication with families and more.
Being involved in the committee is one way parents can participate in their child's preschool education. You benefit by:
-
having direct input into decision-making at the kindergarten;
-
developing new skills in areas such as financial management, policy development and employee relations;
-
making a valuable contribution to the future of your own child, as well as all children attending the kindergarten;
-
developing friendships and social networks.
Feel free to talk to us about how you can get involved in the Kinder - there are roles to suit a variety of skills and time commitments.
